Can you pass CFA Level 1 using only free study materials?

Yes. Your CFAI registration fee already includes the full digital curriculum, thousands of end-of-reading practice questions, and two official mock exams. Many candidates successfully pass relying solely on the official curriculum and free community supplements.

Where can I download the official CFA Level 1 Ethics handbook for free?

The Standards of Practice Handbook (11th edition) is published directly by CFA Institute and is available as a 100% free downloadable PDF on cfainstitute.org. Because Ethics makes up 15–20% of Level I and tests official standards directly, reading this free handbook is universally recommended.
